Mitsubishi Triton and Pajero are both strong performers in Queensland — the Triton as a working ute, the Pajero as a capable 4WD. Both appear regularly at Brisbane wrecking yards, but availability and demand differ between the two. If you’re chasing parts for either model, here’s what to expect.
The Triton case
Triton utes are consistently popular in Queensland’s trade and agriculture sectors. High volumes sold means high volumes eventually wrecked — the ML, MN, and MQ series all appear regularly at Brisbane wreckers, and the newer MR is starting to come through more often as the first examples reach end-of-life. Parts availability for the Triton is generally good, particularly for:
- 2.5 litre diesel engines (4D56 and 4D56U from ML/MN)
- 2.4 litre engines from later MQ and MR models
- Manual and automatic gearboxes
- Diffs, transfer cases, and 4WD components
- Bull bars, towbars, and tray accessories from working models
- Suspension components and interior trim
The Pajero case
The Pajero has a different profile. It was discontinued in Australia in 2022, and while it still has a loyal following, fewer come through wrecking yards compared to the Triton. That said, the NP, NS/NT/NW/NX generation Pajeros do surface, and when they do, common requests include:
- 3.2 litre turbo diesel engines and gearboxes
- Transfer cases and centre differentials
- Body panels and interior parts from low-kilometre examples
- Electronic modules and sensors
Which is easier to find parts for?
The Triton, by a reasonable margin. Higher sales volumes mean more come through wrecking yards, and a broader pool of parts. Pajero parts are available but the yard turnover is slower — call ahead and be prepared to wait if you need something specific.
